NaNoWriMo is almost here and with it, it’s time for me to officially announce my participation!
What Is NaNoWriMo?
National Novel Writing Month is an event that takes place every November. It does exactly what it says on the tin; you write a novel during that month. Or to be more exact, 50,000 words in 30 days. I’ve been taking part in this on and off since 2014 (fun fact: my debut novel was a failed NaNo project!) It’s such a fun and rewarding challenge for all kinds of writers.
What Will You Be Writing?
This year, I wanted to give myself a little challenge and write a romance! I’ve written a romance story before (my NaNo project of 2016 Tracks was a supernatural romance) and had a lot of fun creating it. Which is odd for me since I don’t like reading romance novels! But I’ve revisited one of my many story ideas during lockdown and really wanted to run with it. The working title for this project is Needlepoint and tells the story of a girl who finds love in the most unexpected place. I won’t say more than that because I’m still putting the story together but I’m excited to get started!
What Else Should I Know?
I will be giving you all regular updates on my progress on my social media and on this website when NaNoWriMo begins (but newsletter subscribers will get it first!). I also have a lot of NaNo related blog posts planned for those who are looking for tips on how to plan and other factors to consider. I’m not putting too much pressure on myself to complete NaNo this year (considering the year I’ve had AND I’ll be starting a new job November 2nd), but if I managed to get something down, I’ll be happy.
