Holly Pritchards NaNoWriMo 2020 Count Week 1

NaNoWriMo 2020 Week One

So, it’s been a little over a week since NaNoWriMo 2020 began and I’m here with my latest update! So have a read to see how I’m doing…

Holly Pritchards NaNoWriMo 2020 Count Week 1

TOTAL WORD COUNT*: 13,738

Here’s my chart since November 1st. All things considered, I’m doing pretty well! I was initially worried about keeping a good word count as I started a brand new job last week, but I’ve made sure to dedicate time to writing my novel and I’ve even gone above par which is fab! I didn’t do too much yesterday as I wanted a little break, but this week I plan to hit 20,000 words by hopefully Wednesday or Thursday if I can.

I’m also going to be having an afternoon writing session with my lovely friend Libby on Saturday as she’s taking part too. So hopefully that will give my story a nice little boost!

*Word Count as of November 9th, 2020.

My actual word count per day has varied quite drastically; some days I write more, some days I wrote hardly anything. And that’s okay with me! I believe that variety is key and having a healthy balance is a good way for me to keep motivated. I originally wanted to have my word count tripled for each day, but I realise that it’s not realistic for that (especially since my new job has been keeping me very busy!)

As for my actual story, I’m really happy with how it’s going and am looking forward to having the whole thing completed very soon. Despite it being a romance novel (something I don’t usually dabble in) I’m finding it very easy to build the world I’ve set out. I’m particularly loving writing the two main characters and getting to explore them as the days develop.
