NaNoWriMo 2020? Completed it mate.

I am super happy to announce that on the 23rd November, I reached the 50,000 word mark and officially completed NaNoWriMo 2020 with a new personal best! I even got a certificate and everything. Look at how shiny it is.

Going forward from my last update, I put a plan in place to do as much writing as possible over the coming weekend. I didn’t have any plans so I had plenty of time to get all the words out. However, this also came to a point where I struggled to think of extra scenes to add to my story. So after taking an evening to map out some more interesting plotpoints, I put them to work and typed like my life depended on it.
I also realised that last year, I got a personal best by completing on the 24th November. So I set myself the very difficult challenge of a new personal best, writing 15,000 words over the course of three days. It was so difficult to do and I became incredibly exhausted, but seeing the word count go to 50,000 gave me such a feeling of satisfaction.
Here’s a fun little thing that came out of my NaNo project – I accidentally spelt the word “Binca” wrong (Binca being a material you can use to cross-stitch). The spelling I originally put in was “Binka”. Upon a quick google search, I stumbled across Binka the Cat, a TV show that was on back in the 2000’s. It reignited a memory in my brain and now the theme song has become an earworm in my head. Since listening to this song dozens of times, Binka has now become a fully fledged reference in my story. So I thought I’d share the theme song so you can join me in jamming out to it!
