Some of you may have noticed that my name isn’t Holly Stockport anymore. Over the past two days, my internet presence has undergone quite the transformation and I’m here today to explain why things have changed. So without further ado, allow me to introduce my new name…
MY NAME IS HOLLY PRITCHARD.
Hello! I’m Holly Pritchard now. Nice to meet you!
Why did you change your name?
This is the most asked question and the answer is very simple; I’ve fallen out of love with having Stockport as my last name. It’s a name that has a massive wealth of history behind it (I picked the name when I was 15); a large chunk of that history is not relevant to me any longer. This year I had hoped to self publish another novel but because of the pandemic’s massive hit on my personal finances it’s something I can’t do right now. So I figured now would be the perfect time for me to change my name before I got any more work out.
And I have at least fifty Twitter accounts that follow me just because I have Stockport in my name. And they tag me in stuff related to Stockport. Which is incredibly annoying as a born and bred Welsh woman.
Not that I don’t love Manchester though; I went there for a hen do two years ago and it was a fantastic weekend.
Where did Pritchard come from?
Pritchard is my grandmother’s maiden name. And it’s a Welsh surname too which works out very nicely for me. Originally I was going to pick Llewellyn, but for non Welsh speakers I thought it might be a bit hard to pronounce. Heck, I’m Welsh and I just struggled to say it out loud just now. I even had to Google the pronounciation. The other choice was my other grandmother’s maiden name which was Long. And as hilarious as me, a five foot and half an inch tall woman being called Holly Long would be, I felt Holly Pritchard was a much better fit. Sorry Grandma Meg!
What’s going to happen to your first two books?
My published work has been updated to reflect the name change and in the first page of each book, it has been marked to say that it was previously published under Holly Stockport. All works published from this point on will be under my new name.
I’ve reviewed your books on my website – do I need to change your name?
You can if you wish! Whether you change your review completely, or simply update it with one or two lines to explain, it’s up to you whether you change it or not. But I personally do not mind at all.
Is there any other important information I should know?
Yes! My email address has changed to reflect my new name. I’ve also created an email for my blog as well. Going forward I would like to be contacted in the following ways:
- If you want to contact me about reviewing my books, or about my author portfolio, please email enquiries@hollypritchard.co.uk.
- If you want to work with me through my personal blog, please email info@thelittlelandeg.co.uk.
I know this process will take a while to adjust (there are still a few things I can’t change myself so I’m waiting for companies to do them). Please bear with me if my old pen name is still floating around being used somewhere!
Thank you all for sticking by me as Holly Stockport and I look forward to getting to know you as Holly Pritchard!
